DJI came out recently with their feature-rich and totally high-tech quadcopter DJI Inspire 1 T600, taking pretty big steps towards future since their Phantom line of 4k-capable quadcopter drones.

The DJI Inspire 1 T600 has been seemingly designed for the tech-savvy professionals and gives a fantastic aerial view rather than keeping in mind the budget friendliness of the product.

Coming with two controllers, allowing for the maximum of usability, DJI Inspire 1 is truly a rich assortment of specs and modern characteristics through which you can experience some jaw-dropping 4K aerial video and considerable good quality still image capture.

Among the two controllers, one controller can be used to manipulate and fly the quadcopter or the drone itself while the other one can be used solely for the purpose of controlling the 4K Ultra High Definition camera which is mounted on the three-axis-gimbal. This is one heck of device which gives you heavenly views of the clouds; and literally so.

Having a top speed of 50 miles per hour and a massively high altitude ceiling, this drone will take your eyes into the clouds.

Product specifications:

  • A Complete Ready-To-Fly SystemEverything you need is included and ready to go.
  • Strong carbon fiber arms lift out of sight, transforming the way you shoot.
  • Shoot up to 4K video and capture 12 megapixel photos with the Inspire 1 camera.
  • Inspire 1’s gimbal and camera system can be removed from the aircraft for safe transport and future upgrades.
  • A real-time feed from your Inspire 1’s camera is displayed in 720p HD on your mobile device.

The only seeming lagging points of this drone can be found in its limited air time and in the fact that the price will definitely make a big hole in your pocket. Apart from these, the Inspire 1 quadcopter is miles ahead of its competitors.

If you don’t believe us, above video will better introduce you to the product.

The DJI Inspire 1 T600 4K quadcopter or drone from the house of DJI seems to be genuinely loaded with awesome features and depending on exactly which package you are buying on, you can have it with dual controllers, a hard case, an extra battery and also a number of other accessories.

DJI Inspire 1 T600 unboxing

But if you are opting to have a more economical package, then it will be coming with the basic drone, the controller, and one battery. Irrespective of the package that you choose to buy, in all of them you will be bombarded with the top notch qualities of the Inspire-1 model.

 Design and Durability

The design of the Inspire 1 drone is trendy and has an extreme utilitarian style. It is also true that the drone is much heavier than the previous drones from DJI such as Phantom, but the ultra-modern sassy look is sure to cause a few jaw drops when it is flying high in the sky. Hence the super-cool design seems to compensate for the heavier drone that we have here.

The central body of the drone is attached to four carbon fiber arms. These arms are extended from the central body of the drone at opposite sides or opposite angles. Hence the drone gets a kind of insect-like or rather spider-like look which definitely is a plus point.

Now the carbon fiber arms are not just there for any random reasons. It serves a great purpose of some serious strength to the drone while it is in air.

DJI Inspire 1 T600 design

Another great advantage of the arms is that it reduces the weight of the drone which already is quite hefty compared to others in its class. The motorized arms allow you to have a totally unrestricted view since they can be moved up or down according to your convenience. This guarantees that the camera will face no hurdles while taking pictures or videos of the area.

The drone’s look is much classier and beautifully simple than the previously bulbous and idiotic looking drones from DJI. Inspire 1 has a super polished and beautifully crafted white-over-black body which looks definitely more elegant.

In a nutshell, the DJI Inspire 1 T600 drone has essentially all the looks that a typical drone should have. For this reason, there are many clones out there or even design imitations.

The drone has an astonishing speed and quick acceleration benefit mostly thanks to its aerodynamically feasible design. The slim body drone can get up to 50 miles per hour which are sufficient to overtake a car in light traffic.

Camera

Perhaps the super powerful camera is the most attractive feature for buyers. The drone is equipped with one the best cameras which can capture up to 4k in video and picture resolution.

The really fun part is the fact that the camera can see at 360 degrees. It means that when the drone is up high you can get a stunningly clear and unobstructed 360-degree view of the entire region.

So the controller gets an extra advantage of recording in all the angles and in any direction, irrespective of the general flight direction. Hence it is quite possible for the pilot to shoot videos and stills in almost any direction and angle (sides and below) and even partially above the drone.

The camera is capable of shooting 12 MP still pictures which can easily be considered as superb. The capturing has vivid colors as well as contrast. It also has a moderately high amount of ISO variations starting from 100 up to 1600 for still photos and from 100 to 3200 for video captures.

DJI Inspire 1 T600 camera

With an electronic shutter speed ranging from 8s to 1/1800 s, the camera comes with a power Sony EXMOR ½ .3 sensor and 35mm format equivalent FOV (Field Of View) lens. There is also an anti-distortion feature which removes the prevalent blurriness and fish-eye look from the captured photos and videos.

And finally, the drone camera is equipped with a range of shooting modes in still (single shot, burst shot, 3/5/7 frames etc.) and UHD, FHD and HD captures in video recording.

The DJI Inspire 1 T600 also has an assembly of different frame rates and it gives you a maximum 60 Mbps video storage bitrate. This means that it can shoot arrays of video in many distinct resolutions at a collection of different frame rates and offers a maximum video storage bitrate of 60 Mbps.

The camera supports a wide range of file formats like FAT 32 or exFAT and in video MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 and MOV. The photo formats consist of DNG and JPEG.

The ZENMUSE X3gimbal is one the most advanced 3 axis gimbals available for aerial photography. This is the equipment that helps keep the camera rock-steady when it is rolling in the high skies.

It uses the Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) for the detection of any minimal change in the movement of the gimbal and camera and accordingly adjusts itself. The movement data updates occur once every millisecond and the movement compensation is almost in real time.

The gimbal has the following specifications:

  • Angular vibration range of +- 0.03 degrees
  • Controllable range of pitch -90 degrees to + 30 degrees and pan of +-320 degree
  • Maximum controllable speed includes a pan of 180 degrees per second and pitch of 120 degrees per second.

Battery & Flight Time

The kit comes with an intelligent flight battery: the standard TB47. It has 4,500 mAh capacity and produces 22.2V. The battery is a Li-Po 6S high voltage battery and has a maximum charging power of 180W. With 99.9 Wh of energy, the battery is operational in the temperature range of -10 degree to +40 degree Celsius. The battery weighs 560 grams, which is moderate for its class.

DJI Inspire 1 T600 battery

The DJI Inspire 1 T600 will give you a flight time of 18 minutes with the standard TB47 battery, when the battery is fully charged. However, if you buy one TB48-5700mAh battery then you will be able to fly for almost 22 minutes. But you must realize that different factors influence the flight time, not just the battery life.

For instance, the battery capacity can fluctuate significantly according to flight conditions. If you fly the drone at its maximum speed, then automatically the battery will run out of juice sooner than stated before.

If it is flown in a leisurely pace or just kept in the air hovering, then you will get the most out of the battery and maximum flight time. Also, the heavier the drone is, the less flight time it will give.

The DJI Inspire 1 T600 altogether weighs around 2.9 kg or 6.5 pounds and the 4500 mAh lithium polymer battery makes this drone powerful as well as efficient.

Controller

The controller C1 has an operating frequency of 922.7-927.7 MHz for Japan only. Other models operate on a variety of frequencies like 5.725~5.825 GHz and 2.400~2.483 GHz. The controller has a maximum transmitting distance of up to 3.1 miles or 5 km when it is FCC compliant and free of any obstructions or interferences.

When it is CE compliant, under those same conditions, the maximum transmitting distance is up to 3.5 Km or 2.1 miles.

DJI Inspire 1 T600 controller

You will also get USB and mini-HDMI video output ports on the controller which is very useful. It also gets its power from the built-in battery when charged with a DJI charger.

The dual controller feature is one great advantage for the users. Dual controllers can be used to control the drone better and with great coordination between the pilots. One controller can be used to control the movement of the quadcopter and the other controller can be used for manipulating camera angles and movements.

This feature allows you to fly the drone while some other photography expert can control the camera movement, which is pretty cool. The controller also gives the user an almost organic control feeling, unlike DJI’s earlier drones.

Flight Performance

For a first time user or even for a pro, the first flight can be quite difficult. A good amount of practice is required to have a grip on it. But the almost organic control experience with real-time video or still capture is an amazing thing that users will surely experience.

The Inspire 1 can be considered as an extremely flexible and agile piece of hardware which you can use to capture great shots. It also offers a wide range of complex movements after you get some flight experience. If you are using a smartphone or tablet then you will be experiencing real life video feeds once you have installed the DJI’s pilot app and you get to control the drone via the touchscreen.

DJI Inspire 1 T600 Flight

Keep in mind that there are several users who reported technical glitches and sometimes the drone falls suddenly while in the air. Apparently it loses control and it’s either crashing or simply stops flying. Many users are also complaining about DJI’s poor customer management system and repairing facilities so you should take a look into this before spending a bunch of money.

Value for Money & Guarantee

The DJI Inspire 1 T600 is definitely not one of the DJI’s cheaper drones. The basic kit containing one drone, one controller and one battery sells at around $1,900.  You can get extra batteries or controllers or a hard case for transporting purposes, but you might have to shed anywhere between $2,199 and $2,599, depending on the package that you are choosing.

However, considering the advanced technology and the absolutely amazing camera, the drone is worth every penny to a professional photographer.

DJI Inspire 1 T600 value for money

Sadly, on the DJI website, there is no such mention of warranty or guarantee policy of the product but you can have a DJI care 1-year plan for warranty purposes.

Unique Features

There are quite a few great and unique features of the model. One of the most interesting features is its dual controller and failsafe program.

Other few mentionable features must include wireless communication between the controllers and the drone, real-time video feeds, great camera specifications including the anti-distortion feature, and the lightweight trendy design (among many others).

Give it a glance above, if you want to observe all the unique features of DJI Inspire 1 T600.

Similar Models or Main Competitors

Walkera Voyager 3

This recently launched drone shares a quite similar design with the DJI Inspire 1 T600 drone model. The price is almost similar but at the higher end. Unlike the Inspire-1, Voyager-3 arms cannot be moved upwards or downwards, rather the camera gimbal unit moves and the legs retract. If you want to get much more familiar with this model, we suggest checking out our Voyager 3 in-depth review.

Walkera Voyager 3

With Dual band navigation system (GPS and GLONASS), detachable gimbal, 4K 360 degree rotating camera, built-in analogue real time video streaming, integrated LCD screen showing the system status and for pre-flight checks and with a flight time of 25 minutes, this device is going to throw DJI T600 Inspire 1 a tough competition.

Yuneec Typhoon G

Loaded with great features and coming at a much lower price, this device is one of the toughest competitors for Inspire-1.

Though it is some kind of disposable drone while the Inspire-1 is a professional drone of super quality, yet this drone has quite a few super cool features like sun-shielding feature, follow me, watch me, dynamic return home feature, geo-fencing flight mode, wireless controls, and a 5,400 mAh LiPo Battery.

And it all comes at the price of $500. Yuneec Typhoon G is one quadcopter with 3 axis gimbal that you cannot ignore!

Overview

After listing its main characteristics now, let’s see some pros and cons.

Pros:

  • For starters, it is pretty much ready to fly right out of the box.
  • Dual controllers, giving the users better command over the drone. One controller can be used to control the drone movement and another to adjust the camera movement.
  • Trendy design, lightweight, and durable build
  • Motorized carbon fiber arms that move so you can take great images.
  • The stunning 4K camera with 12 MP still captures, with the anti-distortion

Cons:

  • Comparatively less flight time than other such drones and even from the house of DJI.
  • The controller lacks an integrated LCD screen. Visualizing the action through a controller’s HD screen rather than the attached smartphone or tablet through application seems more realistic.
  • It is much costlier compared to its other counterparts and mini drones.

At last, we can say that DJI Inspire 1 T600 offers an incredible aerial photo and video capturing solution for professionals as well as aerial photography enthusiasts.
