Upon the break of dawn, the officers found the small crashed drone in the adjoining bushes, as well as a small package containing marijuana, tobacco and a cellphone.

Further down in the bushes, they also found more drugs, a bottle of grape-flavored Gatorade and the controller that was used to fly the drone. The prisoners and their accomplice were using the drones as a delivery system to sneak contraband items into the prison.

Earlier that year in January, smugglers tried and failed to fly in six pounds of the drug crystal meth over the US- Mexico border near to the U.S. border city of San Ysidro, California.

• Keep your drone within your visual line of sight at all times
• Fly your drone below 400 feet and remain clear of surrounding buildings and other obstacles

Canada has similar regulations  to that of the US and they stipulate that all drones that weigh more than 77.2 pounds must be registered with their governing body- Transport Canada. They implore drone owners to think of the safety of themselves and others at all times when they fly their devices and they encourage them to fly in good weather during daylight hours so that they can see exactly what is going on with their drones.

Greece is a bit more lenient with their drone laws and they only encourage drone owners to keep their drones away from populated areas. Countries like Mexico, New Zealand and Brazil are great places to fly your quadcopters because there are no laws that ban the use of certain drones. They only encourage you to use common sense.
